Main stage collapsed

After touring the States and visiting us at our partnered local venue, The Ridgefield Playhouse, Costner and crew headed to Camrose, Alberta to perform at Big Valley Jamboree’s four day bash.

Saturday the festival quickly turned to terror and tragedy around 6:00pm. Strong winds and heavy rain struck asfans ran for cover fearing a tornado at Canada’s largest country music festival.

Actor/Singer Kevin Costner was preparing to take the stage when it caved and crumbled. According to CST News, Nick Meinama, Costner’s band manager told the local station he and Costner were caught underneath the stage. “He was unhurt. I was unhurt. We wiggled our way out”. Taken to the hospital and released later that day were road manager and guitar player, both standing minor injury.

There were flying musical instruments and chairs, lightning hitting the steel building causing power surges thus leaving fans running for cover in the dark. Deeply saddened by the death of 1 and 75 injured, Sundays program was canceled by the promoter.
