Yesterday a coworker accused me of being a “Debbie Downer” after reading my recent blogs about New York Sports. Debbie Downer? I personally don’t know Debbie, but I imagine you would omit her name from the party list. After my knee jerk “There is so much wrong with New York Sports,” comment I paused and thought about her remark.

My Jets and Giants posts have been slightly negative. Correction—all negative. And borderline depressing. In effort to correct my glass half empty mentality, its time to give my beloved New York teams another look with different spectacles.

Ok, both teams have been on losing streaks. There is no denying or sugarcoating that. But even with a few losses each team is still in the hunt for the playoffs. That’s good. The Giants receivers have, at times, played well beyond preseason expectations. That’s good. And no one shot himself in the leg…yet. That’s good.

The Jets could easily be sitting Miss America pretty at 6-3 if it wasn’t for two heart-wrenching last minute losses. Good. The running game has the potency of your grandpa’s little blue pill. Good for Jets and grandpa. And they are winning with a rookie quarterback and a first year coach. Goodie Gumdrops.

So there it is. It’s not all bad in winter New York sports land. Next time I fall out of bed I hope it’s on the right side. Just don’t ask for a cheery Knicks or Nets blog because Debbie Downer will crash that party.
